Privacy Policy

Backedly is operated by Taeyun Kim, the Republic of Korea ("Backedly", "we"). This policy explains what we collect when you use Backedly, why, who processes it, and how you can delete it. Questions: support@getbackedly.com.
What we collect
- Account data: your email address and name, provided through our sign-in provider, Clerk.
- Content you give us: resumes you upload (PDF or Word) and job descriptions you paste, plus the analyses, suggestions, cover letters, summaries and PDFs we create from them.
- Usage data: which analyses and exports you created and when, used for limits and to keep the service running, and counts of AI usage per analysis. Error alerts we receive never include your resume or job-description text.
- Campaign link: if you arrive through a link with
utm_source,utm_mediumorutm_campaignparameters, we keep those three short values in a first-party cookie for 30 days and save them on your account when you sign up. We use no third-party advertising or analytics scripts. - Payment data: purchases are handled by Paddle, our payment provider and merchant of record. We receive the fact and reference of a purchase, never your card number.
How we use it
Only to run Backedly for you: extract the requirements from a job description, compare them with your resume, suggest edits you can accept or reject, write documents you ask for, and create your PDFs; plus enforcing limits, handling payments and answering your messages. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your resumes or job descriptions to train AI models. We look at your content only when needed to fix a problem, to answer a request from you, or when the law requires it.

Transfer outside Korea
Because Backedly is operated from Korea and its providers are in the United States, the data above (account data, your content and usage data) is transferred to the providers listed, over encrypted network connections, each time you use the feature that needs it. It is used only for the purposes in this policy and kept only as long as described below. If you do not agree to this transfer, please do not use Backedly; you can delete your data at any time.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays until you delete it. From the Resumes page you can delete a single resume, or all of your resumes, analyses, documents and PDFs, including the stored files. Deleting your account deletes your data the same way. Copies may remain in our providers' backups for a limited period before they are overwritten. Purchase records are kept by Paddle as tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to how it is used. Most of this you can do yourself in the app; otherwise email support@getbackedly.com from the address you signed up with, and we will respond within 10 days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority.
Cookies
We use cookies needed to keep you signed in (set by Clerk) and the campaign cookie described above. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
AI and your content
Suggestions are written by an AI model and checked by our software against the text of your resume, but they can still be wrong. You decide what goes into your resume.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, files are stored privately, and access is limited to your account. No system is perfectly secure; please report any concern to support@getbackedly.com.
Age
Backedly is for people aged 18 or older.
Changes
We will post changes on this page and update the date above. If a change is significant, we will also tell you by email or in the app.
